“The words you speak become the house you live in.”
– Hafiz
Welcome to the Steve Show. Today, we’re going to talk about affirmations. They aren’t new thanks to The Secret. But why is it that many people practice affirmations, but don’t manifest what they affirm inside? In this post we will talk about how you may be self-sabotaging the positive effects of practicing positive affirmations, and what you can do to stop that.
For example, say you have a daily practice for affirmations where you affirm the following in the morning:
- “I have everything I want.”
- “I am amazing.”
- “I am a millionaire.”
Then you go about your day, and say you go to work, and you receive an email from a disgruntled customer or client—without even knowing you might say things like:
- “I’m screwed.”
- “I didn’t do good enough.”
- “I am wrong.”
Now, compare these statements to your morning affirmations. Notice that they conflict! We actually go through the day saying the opposite to what we want to affirm!
There’s the first problem. If your internal thoughts aren’t aligned, then you create conflict in your life. All those words are inputs to our subconscious to pay attention to and attract events, people, and experiences in our life that prove them true!
So, the question is, how do you re-align your thoughts, so you can manifest positive results and more success with greater ease?
The first step is awareness. I’ll give you an example. Often, I find myself saying, “Oh, I’m late.” or “I’m going to be late.” Then I noticed that, and I consciously worked to change my habit. Every time that thought came up I would say, “I’m going to be right on time.”
What I noticed over time, is that I would be five minutes late, but everyone else would also be five minutes late! As a result, I was on time relative to them!
It’s important to mind your words. Because whatever words you feed your subconscious mind, it will do the work to make those words come true in life.
Takeaway:
- Start taking note in what you’re saying, look at what is it? Is it all incongruent with what you want? Or is it the complete opposite?
- Start taking note of what people in your life, the people you hang around most, say. What sorts of words are they using? Is what they are saying positive language or negative language? Because their words are speaking to your subconscious too.
This is a simple daily practice you can do to start bringing more awareness to the words your subconscious mind is being fed, and over time, months, years—you will gain greater control over what you want to manifest in life and business.
Go out and make it an amazing day and I’d love to hear your feedback on this! My mission is to help as many of you have the life that you want, and I look forward to doing that.
Thanks for tuning in today.
