What are we thankful for?
I really believe that when you start with gratitude, when you give thanks to things—that’s what leads to happiness.
If you ever find yourself in a bad mood and you think of five things that you’re grateful for, it’ll change your state of mind.
This might not be new to you. You might have heard about cultivating an attitude of gratitude from some other source before, where you think of all the things you are grateful for.
But what I want to talk about most today, is a gratitude practice that most people don’t often think to practice …
Looking in the mirror and giving gratitude to yourself.
You see, as we grow as business owners and entrepreneurs, I’ve found in my life that you achieve your goals faster the more you’re grateful for what’s right now.
If you’re sitting there and you don’t like what’s going on, that slows you down. Your mind is in a negative space.
Whereas, the more grateful you are for where you are, the faster you’re going to grow.
It’s not an easy one to digest.
When I first heard this, I was like “Yeah … I’m sure that’s good for you because your life is good, and you can say that! I’ve got this crap going on in my life and it’s not so good!”
But I tried it anyway. When I didn’t think things were going well, I really worked hard to focus on what I was grateful for. Even if it was that I was breathing.
Just recognizing those moments of gratitude allowed me to shift my mind space into a happier place and truly accept where I was.
Here’s one thing I want you to think about: where you’ve been.
Typically, in your life, even if you’re not happy with where you are right now, but you think about where you’ve come from, you can sit start to recognize what you should be grateful for in this moment. Because you probably been through a lot. You’ve probably gone through things that weren’t so fun.
… What has improved in your life?
… What’s better?
Give gratitude where it’s deserved. I really want you to reflect on yourself and give gratitude to yourself for what you deserve.
A great little exercise:
Get a piece of paper after you watch this video and write down all the things you’re grateful for in 2017. Look at 2017 and write down what’s changed in your life that you’re grateful for.
Just by doing this exercise you’re going to finish 2018 in an even greater way and you’re going to look towards 2019 with amazing things.
Life is a journey. Enjoy every moment of it. 😊
Until next time…
