Welcome to The Steve Show.
… Do you sometimes miss out on big events in life that matter to you simply because you are too busy?
… Are you a parent and feel you must miss your kid’s soccer game because you believe you must be at work, and there’s no other way around it?
… Do you sometimes experience that there is just NO way to change your situation no matter how hard you try?
Today, I want to talk to you about how to fix that.
A few months back I woke up in the morning, got ready for my day of work, and just as I was running out the door, I say goodbye to my wife. She stops, and says, “Steve! Don’t forget today is your daughter’s play. You have to be there at 2:00pm.”
I was taken aback. Because I thought it was a week out. “No, it’s not, it’s next week.”
“No! It’s today!” My wife says. Bummer. Because I had it on the wrong day on my calendar. “Okay, I’ll do what I can to try to make it.” I tell my wife, leaving her not knowing for sure if I would be there.
In my mind though, I was thinking, “There’s no way I’m going to make it.” I went through all the things I had to do in my day, and I had booked myself like crazy. I even had client meetings in the afternoon. I felt stuck.
But then I said, “Wait a minute. I know that I create my own experiences. There’s ALWAYS a way.” I took a step back from my experience, and realized, of course I wasn’t going to make it to my daughter’s play! Especially since I convinced myself I wasn’t. Because whatever your mind holds as true is what will happen.
I took a breath and shifted my mindset as I drove to work. I said, “I’m going to find a way to get there.” That was my intention. And in life, the first step to making any change or manifesting anything you want in life is to set a clear intention. Right there and then I said, “I’m going to make it to my daughter’s play.”
As soon as I get to my office, right away, I get to my desk and I lay out what I have to do. I start looking at:
- What can I eliminate? There must be some things that aren’t necessary for today.
- What can I re-prioritize?
- What can I delegate?
There were a few things I was able to get it off to some of my staff and they were able to help.
Now, even if you don’t have staff, is there any other person that you can delegate some of the work that you’re doing?
I started moving things around. I had one client in the afternoon and thought to reschedule. Guess what? I didn’t have to. The client text messaged me and said, “Hey Steve, my day is crazy, is there any way we can meet another day?” It worked perfectly for me. This is the power of the universe.
When you set an intention, people, places, and things
fall into place to support that intention.
Here’s the end of the story:I’m running, I barely made it though. I still had to get all this work done that day. I got it all done. I even left the office late.
I thought, “Okay. I’m might be a little late.” But then, all the lights on the road were green! I literally got to my daughter’s play on time. I walked in, sat down, and the curtain opened.
To remind yourself, set the intention of what you’re going to do and what you’re going to accomplish. Eliminate what’s not necessary, delegate what you shouldn’t be doing or what you can, and then the rest of it prioritize efficiently.
I hope that helps you so that you can start making it to these major events in your life. Because life comes first, and a business and a career are there to support it. way there.
