“Live it now.”
– Steve Napolitan
If you haven’t heard Trav Bell’s story, then this blog post and video is an ABSOLUTE MUST.
Why? I’m going to get into that.
Before Trav Bell hit the international stages as an inspirational speaker, breaking people out of the trance of waiting to die rather than wanting to live, he was running a successful personal training business that grew to become a franchise.
Unfortunately, he was also stuck with lots of legal battles, and found himself hating the very thing he loved (working with people and helping them get results in their life!).
For three years, Trav didn’t sleep well, didn’t eat well, his relationship was falling apart, and he was battling with severe depression.
To ease the pain of his situation, he also spent the three years “hugging it out” at self-help and personal growth seminars, without really getting the breakthrough change in wanted.
In Trav’s own words:
“I was in a pretty dark space, and so I shared my stuff and crocodile tears.”
Unfortunately, he didn’t get the sympathy he was looking for. A lady (Deb) told him, “That’s well and good, Trav. I just had a hysterectomy and now, I’m cancer-free.”
Somehow, that slapped Trav in the face and gave him a wake-up call. “What am I b*tching about?”
Trav then pulled out a list he wrote when he was 18 years of age. At the time, he called it his “to do before I die” list.
Today, it is known as a bucket list. And it is the basis for what he shares in all his seminars today.
Trav’s main message is about not waiting till you are near deaths door to live. But instead, to realize that you are on your way to death anyway. It’s inevitable. So, you got to make use of your time now.
You don’t have to be like Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman in The Bucket List, lying in a hospital bed before you suddenly decide to do what you want and love.
Or as Trav says in his ‘good-ol Aussie way’ in this interview:
“I really want to help people not live in this world, not believe the matrix, which is, “I’ll be happy when,” syndrome. I mean that’s how our whole society, isn’t it? I’ll be happy when.”
What are some things you want to do in life before you die?
What would you like to add to your bucket list?
Contrary to what most people think about bucket lists are not just about traveling.
According to Trav, it is about designing your life with the time you have. He calls it his Bucket List Blueprint. You can go to Trav’s website to download his 12-step blueprint.
I can help you out here too.
So, there you are, imagine yourself floating to the end of your life. The moment just before you pass. Breathe through that older version of you and look through his or her eyes.
Before you take your final breath in this body, look back upon your life. And notice, what will have been your most memorable moments? What could have been regret?
Stay there for a few minutes and really consider your answers.
Okay, come back to you now. Here, today, breathing. And write down your list of things you want to do with your life before you die.
