“If you believe in it and you want it, then you’ve got to go and do it.
There’s no point in 20 years’ time looking back and going, ‘I wonder what would’ve happened?’”
— Darren Pratley
Welcome back to the Steve Show! Today’s topic is about making BIG strides in business at impressive speeds! The status quo would have us believe that lofty career achievements must be earned through years of ‘working our way to the top’. However, my guest Darren Pratley is here to prove that with a few proven growth strategies, you can hit massive career goals faster than you thought possible.
In fact, Darren went from speaking as a ‘side gig’ to becoming 2-year standing president of New Zealand’s National Speakers Association in unprecedented time! His principles for accelerated success are deceptively simple, but incredibly powerful when taken to heart and put to work. Let’s jump right in…
Work As Hard As You Dream
If you want to be great at something, you’ve got to be prepared to do a lot of that thing. Sounds self-explanatory, but it’s a key principle many goal-seekers miss. To reach a lofty career achievement in short time, you need to be prepared to do the work, get frustrated, hit walls, be creative, and pick yourself back up again when the going gets tough. This also means getting comfortable making big decisions often . The more decisions you make that push you toward your goal, the more opportunities will appear in front of you — the ‘secret sauce’ for speeding toward success.
Stop Doing It Your Own Way
In Darren’s words, “If there’s a faster way to ski down the hill, you’d better go talk to someone who skis.” If you want to hit big achievements fast, you can’t waste time reinventing the wheel. Instead, find the people who are successful in your industry and learn from the journey they’ve already taken. Immerse yourself in relevant communities and pick the brains of as many people as possible.
These interactions are jet fuel for your growth – they contain the information you need to make your first steps easier and help you clearly see the path ahead. Without it, you could be setting yourself up to walk in circles for years. Don’t let your ego or fear of approaching successful people delay your progress and growth!
Invest Like Your Success Depends On It
If a high level mentor could show you how to earn $1M per year, would you pay $100,000 for their guidance? Some may flinch at the idea, but don’t dismiss the thought just yet! Even spending $500K to fast track your path to $1M yearly revenue would be more than worth it — especially considering how small that initial investment really is when you factor in returns over time! You don’t need to spend those big figures to accelerate your success, but Darren suggests carving out a generous budget for your growth. It will pay you dividends!
I hope these simple yet power-packed insights have you feeling inspired and motivated! Follow Darren’s tips and you’ll be on track to tackle your greatest career goals in record time. Let us know what big achievements you have your sights set on in the comments below, and leave us any questions you have about reaching them. I read and respond to every comment!
As always, until we meet again…
