You can’t buy your energy back once you’ve spent it all.
For years, I lived by a bad rule. Go, go, go. Sleep is for the dead. I built businesses 20 hours a day, ate one meal before bed, and called it productivity.
That’s the Ow. Burnout. Panic attacks I mistook for heart attacks. Millions lost in mistakes I made while running on empty. And I didn’t even notice how I was treating the people closest to me.
The Wow is simpler than I expected. It’s not about time. It’s about energy.
You can have all the hours in the world. But if your battery is dead, those hours are worth nothing. You’re there, but you’re not really there.
In this episode, we’ll talk about:
- Why “more time” is the wrong goal. Time only matters if you have the energy to be present for it.
- The half-power trap. Working more hours at low power isn’t just inefficient. It makes you ineffective.
- What depletion really costs. I share how being too tired made me numb to how I showed up for the people I love.
- When to spend energy and when to refill it. Knowing the difference is what changes your whole week.
Anne Lamott said it best: almost everything works again if you unplug it for a few minutes. Including you.

Everyone's telling you to deploy AI right now. Almost no one's asking why. Here's the thing. AI accelerates whatever you already have. Good systems get better. Broken systems break faster. So if your processes are a mess and your strategy is fuzzy, AI won't hide that. It'll put it on a billboard. Which means the work isn't the tool. The work is knowing your business first.
