Welcome to the Steve Show today. I have Aaron Williams here with me. The biggest reason I wanted Aaron to be on the show was his choosing his life. Maybe you are a musician, artist, or chef at heart, but you might think that you can’t pursue your passion because you need to make more money. Or, because you don’t have professional accreditations.
Aaron’s story is about choosing the music and getting to the point where he doesn’t have to worry about money or these things. So that’s what we’re going to talk about today. In this post, I’m going to share the 2 core principles that helped Aaron create an abundant life from pursuing what he loves.
As far as Aaron can remember, he fell in love with music. At first, it was the percussion section of his band in 6th grade. He discovered his love for making rhythms, playing Marimba and Ballots. Then, onto tap-dancing, and learning how to express and communicate himself through the movement of his feet.
In Aaron’s words, “Music is a language. I really got into this to be able to express myself.” For you, your self-expression could be painting, speaking, sports, and anything! The point is, what you love is typically something that you feel is important to your self-expression.
What’s magical is, contrary to the belief that most creative artists have to starve and be homeless before they make it big— Aaron didn’t follow this traditional line. Instead, he has two important learnings that helped him secure high-paying musical AND speaking gigs:
- You don’t really arrive at this point where you’re done. If it’s really a passion of yours, you keep finding new ways to help people or bring new information to your listeners. Keep focusing on learning, growing, and sharing.
- Say ‘no’ to everything else that isn’t in alignment with your passion and don’t worry about how the next opportunity is going to show up. Just have fun, embrace your passion, and let that energy attract the right opportunities. For example, Aaron ended up filming for Coca Cola because of his ability to express music in the form of dance! In his words, “It just came to me because somebody liked the way I was tap-dancing.
By living the above principles, Aaron has even gone on to speak in Las Vegas in front of an audience of over 500 people.
What do you dream about doing in life? What do you want to share with the world? Write it down and start aligning your choices with your passion.
